Reflection on sources

All of the sources I used were very helpful. They made it easy for me to get the answers? The most useful one was the teen ink website. It seemed like it was an college student here answering all of my questions. The most bias one was the take part article. They were saying facts more so you can agree with them. All were very reliable though.

Researching on Process

As i was researching on this topic i was feeling great. I was really anxious to awnser my questions. It seemed like i was interviewing someone in college and wanted to know their every awnser. This task was pretty easy. I already knew alot of facts about college student athletes, i just wanted to expnad my knowledge. I enjoy most finding facts about how to make college easier. I say that because college is something thaat i plan to pursue in the future and it would be good to know more facts. If i had to do this project again i would only specify my topic more. I would want to know more about Ohio State University because thats where I want to go.

Reflection paragraph

I am truely amazed at the information that I have recieved researching. Some of the awnsers I already knew.I already knew that in college the level of intensity turns up big time. Its way different from high school. I learned however, that most athletes perfer to get their work done early in the day. I was amazed on how many collleges offer the sports that I play. I enjoyed researching about the foods that might be served at college. I can already tell that college is something that I really want to pursue after High School. I might have a hard time dealing with the stress of being great thrir, but I know im the right person for that challenge.

Paragraph #3

When you get to college there are way more sports offered compared to high school. Don't get confused though, there are plenty of colleges who don't have any sports. It all depends on what school you go to. The big time sports like basketball, football, baseball, and softball get recognized a lot. They have  other sports also like soccer, lacrosse, tennis, wrestling, and a lot more. If you feel as if you want to change your main sport when you get to college you can. I plan to stay playing basketball.

Finding Paragraph #2

Most people ask alot what makes being a college student athlete so hard? Well the main thing is the stress. People dont understand how hard it is to be in college, get good grades, and do good in practice. You have to be able to perform on a high level in class and on the field almost everyday. That can be very stressfull. Another question that is asked alot is what can college athletes do to stay focused? Based on research most athletes try to stay ahead of their work by a week. They get morning clasess so they can have the afternoon to practice and study. This method works alot better in college.

Finding paragraph #1

Based on my research college athletes schedules  are mostly based on practice time. In college you have a choice on when you take your classes. So a college student athlete would revolve their class time around when they have practice or go to the gym. Most athletes have morning classes and go to practice in the afternoon. That is something I will consider doing. They wake up,grab a quick breakfast and then go to class. After that they have lunch and go to practice. This may seem like a boring process, but in college you don't have class everyday you just have an amount of hours you need. After the hours are completed you will have free time to do whatever you need.

Quote #5

Doing a sport like cross country, an athlete must learn to push themselves beyond the point of which they feel like they “hit a wall”. Once an athlete passes that wall they are already that much stronger mentally and then it makes everything else easier for them.

The author brought up the term/quote "hit a wall". Every mentally strong person has had to overcome "that wall". That's why a student athlete should be proud of being in college.

Quote #4

In order to be a successful student athlete not only must a person be willing to spend a lot of time practicing, but that person must also be prepared for all of the obstacles that can come along the way such as; stress, injuries, and even lack of sleep. People can learn that student athletes must have the patience to balance school and their sports.

In this quote the author is saying  that to be a successful student athlete a lot of practice is required. Patience is the key to your knowledge.

This graph is showing which type of conference recruits athletes the most. This is valuable information for athletes looking to get in college.

Quote #3

Not only can the transition from going from high school to college be stressful, but also the fact that knowing that both the classes and the athletic competition are going to get harder as well.

He is saying that it is gonna get harder going to college. Everything you do is on a higher level than it was in high school. Just be prepared.

This photo is quoting "don't stop believing." If you start thinking you can't make it through the tough times like college then you already failed. Never stop believing in yourself!

Quote #2

Being a student athlete causes more stress than mostly any other reasoning for a student in college to have stress. When an athlete has a big game coming up and a big project due the day after, that will cause some stress.

The author is basically saying u have to be mentally strong and know that stress can come fast.

In college it is very easy for a weak minded person to want to fit in. But in college everyone is different so find what you do best and express yourself

Quote #1

"In order to be a successful student athlete not only must a person be willing to spend a lot of time practicing, but that person must also be prepared for all of the obstacles that can come along the way such as; stress, character flaws, and even weak mental strength."

Basically the author was saying was if you want to make it as a successful student athlete on the college level, you have to be prepared. You cant just come weak minded. If you want to be on top of your game in sports and in the classroom you haave to work hard.

My questions

The life of a college student athlete is very interesting.

  1. What does a college student athletes's schedule consist of?
  2. What makes being a college student and college athlete hard?
  3. What sports do most colleges have?
  4. What foods are available at most colleges
  5. What can college athletes do to stay focused on work.

What I know

As a high school student I know only a little about the life of a college student. I know that they like to have fun but have to take work serious if they want to stay there. I know that if athlete gets a full scholarship there to play a sport the coaches are interested in him. I know that college work is way harder than high school. I also know that their college games are way more exciting than high school. I got this information from my sister, teachers, and T.V.

The story behind my topic choice

At 15 I remember sitting in my living room drinking a Gatorade watching a documentary on a high school athlete going to college. He was so nervous and emotional that it almost made me cry. I remember sitting there thinking I want that feeling and experience. Later that night I told my mom that I'm going to put all of my energy to going to college and surrounding myself with a variety of people. I remember when My sister came back from college as new person. She was out of her shell and very intelligent. She said college was the best thing ever. Ever since that day I've had the fiery edge to do anything to get to college.
